- Palio (Palio horse race) In " Piazza del Campo ", the central sq uare of Siena, is run on July the 2nd and August the 16th a horse race, called " Palio ", that involve the seventeen contrade. The preparation to the run occupies the entire year, so that the competition between contrade is still fierce. The run is followed by a great amount of people, and from national television too.
