Folklore and festivals
During the year, there are many festivals in Florence. The most important are:

- Calcio in costume (Historic football): its origin are medieval; it is often considered the predecessor of modern soccer, it has elements of rugby too. In Middle Age the Calcio in costume was very popular and it was played in four places of the city, were a tournament is still played every year in June.

- Festa della Rificolona (Rificolona festival): this festival take place every year, in 7th september. In those days many coloured light adorn the city.

- Capodanno fiorentino (New year's Day of Florence): it's celebrated in 25th march of every year; in those days, in fact, Catholic Church placet the Annunciation Feast.

- Scoppio del Carro (Cart explosion): this religious fest comes from the ancient time of the first crusade. It deals with the distribution of the sacred fire.

- Festa del grillo (Cricket Feast): It was very popular before, but lately has just become a commercial feast.

- Maggio musicale fiorentino (Musical Fiorentine May): it's one of the most popular musical manifestation. It's admired all over the world.
