From VILLA SAN MARTINO the panoramic view across the green landscape with it’s olive groves, vineyards and ancient cypresses is amazing, and you have a spectacular view of the characteristic towers of San Gimignano and the medieval walled village of Certaldo Alto. VILLA SAN MARTINO was accurately restructured in 2003 respecting the ancient traditions of the building and the surroundings. In the nineteenth century, the Villa was the residence of the Marquise PUCCI family, in the early middle ages it was one of the first constructions from which the nearby village of San Martino was developed. Today the villa is provided with a private swimming pool (18x4m) in a wide garden perfectly equipped with gazebo and barbecue for your out-door lunches and a private parking-place behind the villa, all surrounded by a park with olive grove and ancient cypresses. The entrance is provided with an antique iron gate, equipped with a video-interphone system. In the immediate surroundings of VILLA SAN MARTINO you can practice a lot of different activities: guided excursions across the countryside (trekking as well as riding), mountain-biking, fishing (there’s a lake just about 500m from the villa). You can play tennis in Certaldo (4km), tennis and golf near Castelfalfi (about 20km). There is also the possibility to frequent cooking-classes, learn about the manufacturing of pottery at an ancient ceramic kiln, or to visit the wine-cellars along the “Tuscan- wine-paths” (“Strade del Vino Di Toscana”). Visiting the local artists’ workshops is a different and curious way to discover the artisan traditions of Tuscany. Ground floor: large entrance hall with staircase, a wide living room with pool table, reading room with TV, DVD and CD, bedroom (twin single beds) with an en suite shower room, kitchen and a spacious dining hall with table for 18 persons, laundry and cloakroom.
First floor: Landing. 7 bedrooms, 5 with twin single-beds (all with en suite shower rooms), and 2 with double-beds, one with en suite bathroom and one with an en suite shower room.
Second floor: “ colombaia tower”: one bedroom with a double-bed and en suite shower room, two terraces, one connected to the room, from which you have an exclusive view.
Comfort: Villa San Martino offers you the highest standard of comfort during your countryside holidays.
In the center of a wide lawn, bordered by roses and jasmines, is the private swimming pool (18x4m) with roman steps, open from early May to late September, from which the panoramic views are, quite simply, breathtaking. Private parking-place behind the villa and gazebo equipped with barbecue for your out-door lunches, all surrounded by a park of olive grove and cypresses .The iron gated entrance to the property is provided with a video-interphone system.

Territory
Empoli
Empoli was born after the drainage of a plain crossed by Arno river. It was built by Romans: its main resource was the river, that acted as a communication way that allowed inhabitants to sell their agricultural products and their pottery. However, the city begin to develop in VIIIth century, and it grows around the castle. It took the name of Emporium or Empolis (it was In Portu before).
In 1182, Empoli becames part of Florentine territory. The city was the seat of a famous council too, the one in which Farinata degli Uberti contrasted the annihilation of Florence. Later, the castle of Empoli become an important fortress, but unfortunately it was frequently sacked. Empoli entered the Italian Kingdom with Florence.
