The two houses have been completely restored with care taken to fully maintain the original features of the typical house of the country. Both of them are a good solution for a large group thanks to the possibility to utilise as communal area the lounge and the dining room of the main house.
The inside rooms are furnished with period pieces in a quiet and functional way.
From here you can admire a wonderful panorama with an enchanting view over the Monte Amiata.
In the main house there is a small apartment, that is completely independent, where the housekeepers live.
Also the swimming pool is set in a beautiful panoramic position and it is exclusively used by guests.
San Giacomo is very well located ‘cause is easily reachable Rome or Florence while is possible to make daily excursions to important cities of art like Assisi, Perugia, Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino, San Quirico d’Orcia and Siena. Only 3 Km. away is situated the Fonteverde spa.

Territory
Siena
The city was probably been settled in the time of Etruscans. However, the first document dealing with Siena is from 70 a.D. It's been written by Tacito. In that document, the city was called Sena Julia. We don't know much about the history of the city till the beginning of the new millennium: about the previous centuries, we know only that there were a big argue between the Bishop of Siena and the Bishop of Arezzo, dealing with the territorial border. The argue was solved first in favour of the Bishop of Arezzo, but then, when Siena went under the power of Francs (853 a.D.), the territory were given to the Bishop of Siena. However the city, that was first governed by Bishops then by counts, gets a certain importance.
In 1147 Siena became a self-governing commune. Because of the increasing of the Senese territory, done by the submission of the counts of the surrounding territory to Siena, the confrontation with Florence became inevitable. The war ended only in 1555: Siena was defeated and it was annexed to the Great duchy of Tuscany. It entered in the Italian Kingdom in 1861.
